Your Holiday Gift From Wrathos: The Child and The Monster
Exclusive Tale From "For Blood and Flame", the next installment in Wrathos: Era of Awakening
Hello, my incredible Wrathos readers, and welcome to a very special edition of The Weekly Wrath. I promised you bonus content when you subscribed, and today, I will deliver. After one week, this lore will only be available long-term to paid subscribers.
I have spent the last week in my head. I thought about 2023, everything it gave me, and I also began to construct my plan for 2024. For Blood and Flame remains a constant in every thought.
This year is when I sat down to redraft For Blood and Flame. I had little hope it would ever sell, because my audience for For Mist and Tar was very small. Nevertheless, it was a story that demanded to be told. I tried to work on other projects, tried to publish other books, but it simply wouldn’t let me.
Nearly this entire year was dedicated to For Blood and Flame. While it’s not finished, it’s nearing completion, and as it does, I want to share more of my vision for this book.
In this edition of The Weekly Wrath, I have a very special gift for you, something I’ve kept under lock and key since the beginning. The entirety of For Blood and Flame surrounds a very specific story, a story I’ve dubbed The Child and The Monster. It’s a short tale, but a piece of pillar lore for Wrathos.
Who the child is — who the monster is — these are things you’ll have to theorize until For Blood and Flame releases, but I hope for everyone craving For Blood and Flame that this is a nice slice of (brutal) pie during the holiday season.
Also, I just want to say how grateful I am that you’re here and you’re willing to be patient with me as I craft a story we can all cherish together.
There’s something extra special in this story, something I’m hoping will have you screaming into the void, and that’s the only hint you will get.
Have you not read any of my books? Please note this story contains lore from Fates of Mirror, as well as For Mist and Tar.
Are you ready? No, seriously, this tale is short but certainly not sweet. Take a deep breath, wrap up in a blanket, and definitely be sure to join the Alchemight chat (which will be linked at the very end of the post). I want your theories. Desperately.
Okay (shakes out nerves) — here it is.
